From DCH4 – Mundelein (pictured L to R) are the newest recipients of the coveted BRDL Safety First hoodies: Mercedes Haas, Patricia Brock, Maria Llanas, Jermaine Campbell, and John Paul Aldaba.
In December, Bear Down station employees started seeing the official SAFETY FIRST! Hoodies appearing on site. The black hoodies are being given to every employee who attains a minimum 800 on their FICO safety scorecard.
The Delivery Excellence Incentive Program “The Scorecard” represents BRDL’s commitment to making every employee and every route safer. It’s something Bear Down Logistics VP of Operations Mike DiPiazza says is instrumental in creating a culture that understands the importance of being safe while on the job.
“We have rolled out the Scorecard as a way to measure driver safety. The sweatshirts are a great way to recognize our Bear Down employees who have worked hard on being safe and made the commitment to getting better each month,” says Mike.
The BRDL Delivery Excellence Incentive Program also includes driver coaching to address individual shortcomings and to offer the potential for immediate improvement. “It’s not just about being critical of our drivers’ efforts,” says Mike. “We have trained our managers to be able to help coach every driver so they can improve.”
At the end of the day, safe drivers rank highly and will be recognized for their efforts. “I’d like nothing more than to see every BRDL employee wearing one of these hoodies,” says Mike.
