If you ask Ryan Parker what’s been the key to his professional growth with Bear Down Logistics, he’ll immediately tell you it comes from the perfect mix of a strong work ethic, which he got from his father, and the support of both managers and associates that have helped him grow and thrive within BRDL.
Growing up in Fox Lake, IL, just minutes from the Illinois-Wisconsin border, Ryan worked for more than two years as a driver at the Mundelein, IL, station just 10 minutes from his home. In November 2018, he accepted a position with BRDL to manage the Champaign, IL, location. Since August, Ryan has been managing Champaign in addition to heading up the AMXL brand for BRDL.
“I loved the fast-paced work of a large delivery route. Having freedom and controlling my hours was a big plus. I loved the job so much, I knew I wanted to make more of it and make this my career,” says Ryan. “I slowly tried to take on more leadership roles until Michael DiPiazza recognized me and took a shot at letting me head up the Station Manager position in Champaign.”
Still a relatively new endeavor for Amazon, Ryan’s responsibilities for AMXL include coordinating the opening of each new BRDL XL station, overseeing the station leads at each site, handling payroll and creating schedules for each locale.
“I am extremely excited about the growth I have seen at Bear Down, even in the little over a year I have worked here. The hard work and enthusiasm of all the employees that I meet or recruit is infectious and helps me improve in my own position,” says Ryan. “The sky’s the limit with this company and I don’t see any plateau on the horizon.”
Ryan says there are many rewarding parts about his daily work, but he especially likes
meeting the crews or recruiting new employees. “Being in a position to help them in their day-to-day work always brightens my day. We are all blessed to be in this position,” he says.
A long-time Cubs fan who relished the opportunity to attend the 2016 World Series parade, Ryan likes to spend his fee time with family and practice martial arts whenever he can. He is engaged to his fiancé Jessica and they have a dog named Doc.
Ryan says the keys to success at BRDL mean: “putting people first and making sure I always have the time to fix a problem or help someone find a solution.”
